Active Education Workshop in Berlin

Next stop for the PACTE project is its Active Education Workshop held in Berlin on the 21st and 22nd of February. The workshop is co-organised with the European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), the project consortium’s expert partner on the topic of physical activity and education for children. Much like the first workshop in Liverpool, this event is open to the participation of experts, professionals and stakeholders on matters of physical activity for children and around schools, just as it will welcome municipality representatives. The Workshop aims to bring together these two spheres in order to pave the way for, much needed, cross-sector collaboration.

The focus on children is a crucial one given the extent of sedentarity today, which is visibly hitting younger generations harder than ever before. This age group is not only less active than their elder peers but is also more severely affected by physical inactivity as can be demonstrated by the loss of physical literacy. Physical literacy is the mastering of basic physical movements such as jumping, throwing and catching, climbing or running, to name a few. Since the vast majority of children attend school, the PACTE project considers the latter to be the most effective entry point in its fight against physical inactivity.

Project partners would like to encourage municipality representatives to join this event as they are at the centre of the PACTE project– we therefore look forward to meeting new and familiar faces! We have the opportunity to help fund a limited number of participants. We hence encourage you to register as soon as possible. All participation confirmations are to be communicated to kiera.wason-milne@sportetcitoyennete.com
